Hello again out there! It’s been a minute but I am back with another look at an awesome indie music act. I have been wrapped up with personal issues but thankfully nothing deadly. Considering the world out there, I am very appreciative of that. I’ve been able to do this series, which I missed.
I’m happy to be back and writing, so let’s get into it.
Today we have a song called “Searise” by Eric Anders and Mark O’Bitz. Since I’ve been gone so long, I’m not going to bury you with words right out of the gate. Instead, I’m going to link the music video. Hit play and give this a watch right NOW. You definitely won’t regret it. As someone who has acted in and made some silent films, I can’t help but love a well done music video. You won’t make it thirty seconds in before you’re enthralled by the visuals. Seriously. It took me 17 seconds to fall in love with this video. I made a note of the time.
The song itself is very easy to get lost in. The music is hypnotic and the vocals are spellbinding. It’s one of those songs that push you so deep into self reflection, it’s over before you know it. There’s a beautiful message behind it all and it’ll drive your thoughts to a million different places. It’s definitely a track you can put on repeat for a healthy run while you sit back and think.
The most interesting thing about this song is it was a bit of a family affair, as well as a phenomenal collaboration between talented artists. Eric Anders had his two daughters Evelyn and Lilah Anders work on it with them. In fact, it was actually Evelyn who came up with the music and the lyrics for the first half of the first verse when she was eleven. Eric and Mark finished the song for her. They then enlisted the help of Basque artist Joseba Elorza for the cover art and incredible music video.
Eric Anders and Mark O’Bitz are in the middle of a series of musical releases, so there’ll be plenty of ways for you to listen to their art. I’ll link some below. If you’re in the market for a soothing track with phenomenal production and an out of this world music video, “Searise” is for you. Hope you enjoyed this latest look into a select indie song. I always love writing these pieces. Now give the the song a chance if you’ve gotten this far without listening!
As always, I’ll go out on some links and a little bio for the artists.

Northern Californian singer-songwriter, Eric Anders, and southern Californian guitarist-composer, Mark O’Bitz, have released their climate-change single, “Searise,” which features Eric’s daughter, Evelyn Anders, singing and as one of the co-writers.
Evelyn came up with the music and the lyrics for the first half of the first verse when she was eleven. Mark and I finished the song for her. She sang her parts when she was fourteen, with her sister, Lilah (10), singing the “ooh ohs” with their dad and Evelyn.
Eric, Mark, Evelyn, and Lilah are all grateful to have worked with Basque artist Joseba Elorza (Greenday) on the “Searise” climate change music video.
